The Prescribing Support Unit provides strategic prescribing support services to Health Authorities, Primary Care Groups/Trusts and other primary care organisations, and NHS Hospital Trusts in the Northern and Yorkshire region. This encompasses primary care prescribing analysis, and conducting critical appraisals of recently-licensed new drugs on the
UK market. We also answer specific prescribing-related enquiries from primary care prescribing advisers and other NHS healthcare professionals. For enquiries relating to therapeutics, individual patients or medicines, please contact our medicines information service.
Who uses this service?
This service is provided to NHS healthcare professionals in Northern and Yorkshire,
particularly primary care pharmaceutical and medical advisers, Directors of Public Health, and NHS Hospital Trust Chief Pharmacists. If you are a patient, please contact NHS Direct for further advice on medical conditions and treatments.
