formularysubgroup

The Greater Manchester Joint Formulary Subgroup was formed under direction from GMMMG to produce a Joint Formulary for implementation across Greater Manchester.  The formulary is one of five main workstreams of the medicines management QIPP plan (optimising use of the drug of choice) with the aim being to maximise safe, effective and economic prescribing. The formulary ensures that patients receive seamless care across the primary-secondary care interface and reduces the need for switching programmes. Adherence to the formulary is strongly recommended by GMMMG and this formulary supersedes all local formularies. The formulary  is applicable to  new initiations and treatments in approximately 80% of patients.  Further information can be found in the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ document.

The formulary is now final. A structured process is being finalised with regard to requests, changes and removals. Please go to our comments section in the meantime.

‘Do Not Prescribe’ List

The Formulary Subgroup is also responsible for the production of a ‘Do Not Prescribe’ list.  The aim of this list is to reduce prescribing rates of drugs deemed to be less suitable for prescribing due to safety, efficacy or cost effectiveness. The Formulary Subgroup will review and update this list on an ongoing basis.
